Perhaps we’re a little weird. We love digging into science and finding out what the latest info is on, say how Krill Oil affects your blood pressure. Or why certain kinds of calcium supplements can cause heart problems.

And how in the world do you go about losing that stubborn extra weight?

Nestled in these pages are the fruits of our intense labor.

We’re uncovering more every day. The idea is this will be the place to come and find scientifically based information on getting the most out of life, today and for your future.

Do we have all the answers? No. We’re learning every day. What you see here represents the best of our knowledge, based on the most up-to-date science for today. When that science changes, we’ll change with it.

We do put our endorsement behind a handful of products, which are not available for sale on this site. That’s to keep the research and endorsements pure. When science changes, we either suggest changes to the formulas of those products or find new ones to endorse.

I was wondering if you have looked into the HCG Ultra diet?

    • Geek3 says:

Hi reese. Yes, I have researched the hCG diet, and I am not an advocate. Sure, lots of people have lost weight with it. It goes without saying that a diet limiting you to a very unhealthy 500 calories per day will cause you to lose weight. Your body goes into starvation mode. Research has been done to prove crash diets lead to no more weight loss after a year, than if we modestly reduce calories and increase our exercise.

It’s also not very safe. Starving ourselves isn’t good for our bodies. If you only eat 500 calories a day, there are serious health risks. The CDC has already pin-pointed over a dozen deaths linked to these very low calorie diets as far back as the 1970′s. Of course, most people won’t perish from the hCG diet, but many will develop other health problems like hair loss, constipation and gallstones.

Here at aPY, as cliche’ as it may sound, we like to follow the old adage that, to lose weight you need a healthy diet, excersize, and, of course, don’t forget your supplements! (Click here to see the CDC’s info on low calorie diets including hCG):

Taking a look at this products label, I see that it contains just regular Ubiquinol with no absorption assistance. The Vesisorb technology is what’s needed to increase absorption by 696%. It isn’t a bad product, you just won’t get the full benefit that you would get with a product that contains that technology.

I love the Red Whale krill oil! Are there any other reliable brands of krill oil out there?

  4. mrsgt1981 says:

I have a question. I would love an actual answer if at all possible. I have started taking Krill Oil supplements but I am still a cigarette smoker. If I continue taking the supplement and smoking at the same time how does that effect me?

    • Geek1 says:

Well, you asked for an actual answer so I’m not going to pull any punches. I watched my grandfather die from lung cancer that was a direct result of smoking for decades. It was not pretty and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. I’ve seen no studies on how krill oil interacts with cigarette smoking, but have to wonder why you’d spend the money on krill oil and still continue such an unhealthy habit. There are no supplements that can undo the damage you’re doing to your body and your health. How does it affect you? It fills your lungs with black nastiness and cuts your life short. With or without the krill oil. My advice would be not to waste your money on both krill oil and cigarettes – pick one and drop the other.

What is your assessment of Glutathione supplements? Is it true oral supplements are not absorbed, and are a waste of money? What about the composition of this product?

Thank you for your time. Al Krause
